The climate is the most important factor that should dictate what type of clothes to pack when one is going on a Mediterranean cruise. If the cruise is in the summer months than one can expect warm, very dry weather associated with a sub-tropical climate which is the classification of the Mediterranean region. During the summer months temperatures reaches highs of 80°F(27°C) during the daytime. With such weather one should pack T-shirts, light clothing, sandals, shorts and of course bathing suit. Also included should be sunglasses, hats and sunblock. Traveling in autumn or winter presents a different proposition as temperatures can be significantly cooler, with temperatures as low as 30°F(-1.°C) in some parts of the Mediterranean. The Mediterranean winter is also the rainy season so along with long pants, boots and proper winter wear, one will find an umbrella handy if they plan to explore the Mediterranean landscape.

The type of clothes should also depend on the activities that a person or family intends to do aboard their cruise ship or when the ship docks at a port. If one intends to lounge on the deck by the pool then certainly swimwear and beach towel would have to be included. Pack semi-casual wear for attending entertainment events and for lunches and dinner at some of the many restaurants onboard. Also include formal wear if one intends to attend any of the formal dinners that are held onboard as a dress code is usually enforced.

Planning an excursion? Then bring very comfortable walking shoes, applicable clothing and it is also important to know ones’ limit so as to not get hurt and put a damper on what should be a beautiful experience. Although laundry service is available onboard if you are running low on outfits, try to pack outfits that can be mixed and matched to minimize packing and also outfits that that do not wrinkle easily.

Packing accordingly will allow you to be more prepared while on your cruise and will greatly decrease the stress and worry that normally comes along with travelling.
