When this company started in 1966 by Knut Kloster and Ted Arison, there was only one cruise
ship/car ferry of 830-ton that cruise to Caribbean. Formally the name of Norwegian Cruise Lines was
Norwegian Caribbean Lines. Many first things happened in Norwegian Caribbean Lines. These were air
sea programs in which you can go anywhere at low prices, Out island cruise, New ports were
developed in Caribbean one of which is named as Ocho Rios in Jamaica. The combined air sea program
was marketed as "Cloud 9 Cruises".
Norwegian Cruise Line offers a hybrid cruising experience, mixing traditional elements with
innovative features, amenities and ambience. Decor is colorful, fun and occasionally loud,
especially on newer ships. The dress code is flexible and very casual. It's not unusual to see

itineraries in regions like the Baltic, Eastern and Western Mediterranean and the British Isles.
NCL also offers a variety of short cruises. In addition to Norwegian Sky's three-night Bahamas itineraries,
travelers looking for a quick getaway can sample one of NCL's one-, two- or three-night sailings in 2010-2011 on
Norwegian Gem, Norwegian Pearl, Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Star or Norwegian Spirit from Los Angeles, New York,
Miami and Boston.
